Valleyfair Prepares for Opening Day May 12 | Business

A national ride inspector will be out at Valleyfair April 30-May 2 checking out all the rides and making sure they are safe for operation before opening day May 12.  Park officials are also conducting test runs on all the rides.

The Corkscrew underwent test runs this weekend. Billed as the first outdoor, all-steel roller coaster in Minnesota, the Corkscrew has given more than 29 million rides since it opened in 1980. It received a facelift last year.

Valleyfair has added several new features this year including  Dickey's Barbecue located near the entrance of Planet Snoopy, Caribou Coffee near the front gate, new live entertainment and a new Fast Lane. For an additional fee you can purchase a Fast Lane pass which allows you to bypass the lines on many of your favorite rides.

Valleyfair will also be launching a mobile app in early June that will allow you to check ride stats, entertainment schedules, help you plan a visit and even locate friends and your car inside the park.

Valleyfair opens for the season May 12 with limited hours and days.  Seven day a week operations begin May 23. Soak City Waterpark opens on May 26.
