A new surgical technique may restore more normal function to patients who have lost near-vision due to age.

Dr. Ralph Chu is the Surgical Director of the Chu Vision Institute in Bloomington. Dr. Chu is one of a handful surgeons performing the inpatient operation as part of the third phase of an F.D.A. trial.

Senior Living Facility Evacuated in Ramsey Co.

A senior living facility in Ramsey County was evacuated Friday after a woman claimed she ingested a poisonous substance as part of a suicide attempt, said Ramsey County Sheriff's Office spokesman Randy Gustafson.

The substance was considered volatile, so authorities evacuated the 26-unit residential home, Gustafson said. The woman was visiting a resident at the facility.
